He has been married to his beautiful wife, Donna for 35 years, and they have five wonderful adult children. They just moved to Longmont, Colorado, to found a new church, the Vineyard Longmont,
Alex Ackermann grew up in a liturgical church, but gave his life to Jesus at the age of 18, at a time of great searching and release from stress and anxiety. Since that time, he has dedicated himself to receiving the goodness of God, and passing it on to others. He married his wife, Donna, in 1985 and they have five beautiful children.
He loves to teach the Bible expositionally. In February 2020, he and Donna moved to Longmont Colorado, to start the Vineyard Longmont. Their desire is to bring a worshiping community to the area to bring freedom, healing and salvation for many.
Co-Lead Senior Pastor
Donna was born in Colorado Springs at Fort Carson… an “army brat”. Her dad, who grew up on a farm in Illinois, met and married her college-graduate mother who had emigrated from Panama. Donna graduated from Widefield HS. While attending CSU, she gave her life to the Lord at an evangelistic concert, and joined the group “MasterPeace”. There she met her husband, Alex Ackermann and was a part of her first Vineyard church. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism, Vineyard School of Ministry certification and a Vineyard pastoral ordination.
Donna has been married for 37 years to her best friend Alex. Feeling the call of God for full-time ministry they have started several new ministries and have helped plant churches. Donna was on staff at the Vineyard Canon City for 10 years, most recently as the Admin Pastor. Earlier in 2020, the Ackermanns were sent out by VCC to plant the Vineyard Longmont.
Donna loves cooking international food, studying Spanish, French and German, raising sustainable fruit trees & herb gardens and spending time with extended family. She is a constant learner and serves on the Vineyard Coaching Network (certified coach), the Hispanic Association national team and is a bilingual Spiritual Director through Sustainable Faith.

Sam and Melodie first met as teenagers in youth group and have been on an adventure together ever since. Married young, they’ve spent over 20 years supporting each other through life, ministry, and raising their four daughters: Julia, Sarah, Anna, and Alexa.
Sam completed his BA in Pastoral Ministry and Bible/Theology while working full-time and parenting young kids, and he is currently finishing his Master of Arts in Bible this spring. He is passionate about teaching Scripture, walking with people through life’s complexities, and exploring God’s creation. He enjoys fly fishing, photography, cooking, woodworking, music, and mountain biking — with a famously dry sense of humor.
Melodie is a Certified Spiritual Director and is working toward her Master’s in Spiritual Formation. She brings a deep love for people, a gift for compassionate presence, and a desire to help others experience God’s nearness in everyday life. She also loves running and climbing Colorado 14ers, which Sam participates in (mostly) willingly.
The Scalf family loves doing ministry together and creating spaces where people can encounter Jesus, build authentic relationships, and grow in faith. They are excited to join Vineyard Longmont and to be part of what God is doing in this community.
